Wednesday

This day we were with Debby again. My observation points were the following:

  • How the theme fits the children's age, stage of developement, interest
  • The length of the target language input (the number 2-3 sentence utterances, one sentence utterances, separate word utterances etc.)
  • The number of activities children are doing during the session.
The athmosphere were really pleasant while the children were playing. They communicated more when I tried to talk to them. I played with more children than the previous day. I helped in the nursing tasks and I learned a lot of new expressions.
Wednesday is the P.E./Sport day of the week. I was waiting for it because i find this thing very interesting. First the Hungarian teacher did child yoga with the group and she built up this activity around the theme of animals in the forest and the forest's plants.
Debby played with them a circle game whicj is called Ring around the Roses. Here is a video in connection with the game.
After this game they started another activity. The game has no name but each children got different instruments and they had to made them to make any noise. They went closer and closer to Debby who was standing showing to children her back. When she turned around children had to stop what they were doing.
In my opinion this theme fitted the children's age and stage of developement. I realized that they enjoyed it so much but sometimes it was hard to them to stop their instruments.
