When it turned out that we have to go kindergarten as English people I was frightened. I afraid of that I cannot manage this task because my English is not so good. So I was nervous when I was heading to the kindergarten. I think the reason of my anxiety was that I had my Hungarian practice three days before I started my English practice and the Hungarian practice is not a pleasant memory for me.  When I stepped in the kindergarten I immediately fell in love with the place. This is funny because a few years ago my fiancé said I am going to work there. I am absolutely sure you do not understand why this is funny. Because I did not planned to be a kindergarten teacher. So maybe it was a sign from him.  I think the Hungarian and the English teacher work together well because they always discussed their plans for the day (of course with the children :) ). It was strange to be with three different teacher in a week but I found it a good experience because they are good at thei...

Friday

We arrived to Friday so my task would be to summarise what I saw in the kindergarten but Something interesting happened on Friday. Hannah came back from her vacation and that day was the story telling day. There is a folding screen in the room and Hannah used that because she did a puppet show to the children.  They sat on the carpet on their on willing. Betti and I was playing with puzzle but when she saw what Hannah is going to do she grabbed my hand and made me to sit down without any word. So I was invited to watch a puppet show with these lovely children. Hannah told the tale of a Bunny and a Mushroom. Unfortunatelly I couldn't find the tale. I Think they understood everything and this was their favourite one. They were keeping quiet while Hannah made the show.

Thursday is the Music day of the week and I observed the day according to the following points.  How children are seated.  Where the teacher is the length of the target language input We spent the day with Jenette. It was her first day in this building but the children loved her because she played with them playdoh and built with the boys a police station. When the session came children were seated in a circle and they sat on the chair. Jenette sat among them too. They sang the song of My teddy bear.  And after this song the sang One little finger, one little finger. Children really enjoyed it because they can show their body parts. And they learnt a lot of new words.  On fourth day children did not use English often but Jenette kept talking to them while they were playing. She used simple, short sentances too just like Debby and Hannah.

This day we were with Debby again. My observation points were the following: How the theme fits the children's age, stage of developement, interest The length of the target language input (the number 2-3 sentence utterances, one sentence utterances, separate word utterances etc.)  The number of activities children are doing during the session.  The athmosphere were really pleasant while the children were playing. They communicated more when I tried to talk to them. I played with more children than the previous day. I helped in the nursing tasks and I learned a lot of new expressions.  Wednesday is the P.E./Sport day of the week. I was waiting for it because i find this thing very interesting. First the Hungarian teacher did child yoga with the group and she built up this activity around the theme of animals in the forest and the forest's plants.  Debby played with them a circle game whicj is called Ring around the Roses. Here is a video in connection...

Tuesday

For Tuesday my observation points were these: Wether or not the session has a central theme the instructional words children seem to understand the nature of children's target language utterances (repetition, responses, creative use, and their proportion during the session) On Tuesday I observate Debby. This day was an unusual day because as I mentioned Hannah went on vacation. Debby was new for the group but they saw her in other groups so she wasn't completely a stranger to them like me the previous day. This day children started to play with me and they invited me in their game. I gained another friendship with Betti. She is a really cute girl but she only used two words: "yes" and "no".  The techer used simply form of instructions and it seemed to children understood them. Debby used this sentances:  Carefully! Don't go under the table. Tank you! Come on! Children liked to repeat "Carefully" very much. In my opinion they l...

Monday

I started my English practice 5 March 2018. I arrived at 8 o'clock and I left the kindergarten when they finished their lunch and washed their faces and they went to nap. I was in the Tulip group. The Hungarian teacher's name is Katalin Berghold and the English teacher's name is Hannah Kristine Dakoske. I can observe her for two days because her family visited her on that week and she took her vacation day when I was in the kindergarten. She was substitute by Debby and Jenette (excuse me but I do not know their last name).   I made an observation diary using Judit Kovács's and Éva Trentinné Benkő's book. The book's title is The World at Their Feet and in this book from page 174 we can find many many points whic are helping us to observate an English teachers. In my opinion this part helped me a lot because I surmised what should be in the focus.  On Monday I choose the following point:  How the teacher motivates children to join in Children's vocab...
